Once syrup is hot packed into its final packaging it will stay good for well over a year, assuming the container has remained unopened. Once you open it be sure to refrigerate the container and try to use it in three to six months.
How does the maple grading system work? Is there a difference between grades?
Yes, there’s a difference, but it is just a matter of taste preference. Grade A Golden is very light and delicate tasting with trace notes of maple flavor. Grade A Amber has a very balanced and smooth taste with a combination of sweet and mapley. In Grade A Dark maple, the maple taste is very strong, often with caramel afternotes.
Where did Grade B go?
In 2015 the grading was made uniform throughout the maple producing world for the first time in history. Grade A Dark maple syrup is now the equivalent to the old grade B. New name but same amazing mapley taste!
